The film follows the training of the platoon under the command of Lieutenant Mike Grayson, who is initially prejudice toward his men. They serve in Italy, then France, distinguishing themselves in various battles. Eventually Grayson's prejudices evaporate with the realization that his men are better soldiers than he is.
